BAN-W vs IND-W: Team India got a humiliating defeat in the first ODI

The first match of the ODI series between the Bangladesh Women’s Cricket Team and Indian Women’s Cricket Team (BAN-W vs IND-W) was played today at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. The host team won the match by 40 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis method and defeated Team India for the first time in ODI cricket. Batting first, Bangladesh was all out for 152 runs in 44 overs, in response to which Team India was also all out for just 113 runs.

Indian women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and decided to bowl first. The hosts got off to a poor start and the openers were dismissed for a team score of 14 runs. Murshida Khatoon got 13 and Sharmin Akhtar got out without opening an account. After this, Fargana Haq shared a 49-run partnership with captain Nigar Sultana for the third wicket. Fargana scored 27 runs while Nigar lost her wicket after scoring 39 runs. In the end, Fahima and Sultana Khatoon scored 12 and 16 runs respectively. For Team India, Amanjot Kaur took the maximum of 4 wickets while Devika Vaidya got 2 wickets.

Team India started to chase the target of 154 runs through the DLS method in thi BAN-W vs IND-W match. The Indian team lost 4 important wickets within 50 runs, Priya Punia 10, Smriti Mandhana 11, Yastika Bhatia 15, and captain Harmanpreet Kaur got out after scoring 5 runs. In the middle order, Jemima and Deepti Sharma handled the innings for some time, but Jemima was also dismissed for 10 runs, while Deepti Sharma scored the maximum 20 runs. The Indian team was bundled out for 113 runs in the 36th over. Marufa Akhtar took the maximum of 4 wickets for the hosts.
