ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers 2023: Zimbabwe recorded the second biggest win in ODI history

In ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers 2023 The performance of the host team Zimbabwe has been excellent in the group stage. In Group A, the hosts have won all the matches. In the 17th match of the tournament held today, Zimbabwe defeated the United States of America (USA Cricket Team) unilaterally by 304 runs.

Batting first, Zimbabwe posted a mammoth score of 408/6, in reply to which the USA were bundled out for just 104 runs. The hero of this victory was captain Shaun Williams who played a stormy innings of 174 runs.

The coin toss fell in favor of the USA before the start of the match and they invited the hosts to bat first. Zimbabwe’s openers started well and added 56 runs for the first wicket. Innocent Kaiya lost his wicket for 32 runs but came in to bat at number three. Shaun Williams added 160 runs with Joylard Gumby.

Joylard Gumby played an excellent inning of 78 runs off 103 balls but Williams’ bat standing at the other end did not calm down and he scored a brilliant century. Together with Sikandar Raza, Williams started scoring fast runs. Sikandar Raza scored 48 runs in 27 balls, then Ryan Burl, who came to bat after that, played a stormy inning of 47 runs in 16 balls.

Captain Williams scored 174 runs in 101 balls which included 21 fours and 5 sixes in this World Cup Qualifiers 2023 match. Due to his excellent innings, Zimbabwe scored 400 or more runs in ODI cricket for the first time. To achieve this target, the USA team got reduced to 104 runs. Abhishek Paradkar contributed 24 and Jasdeep Singh contributed 21 runs for USA. Sikandar Raza and Richard Ngarawa took 2-2 wickets for the host team.
