Mumbai Indians have made it to the second qualifier by defeating Lucknow Super Giants (LSG vs MI) by 81 runs in the IPL 2023 Eliminator match played in Chennai. Batting first, Mumbai Indians scored 182/8 in 20 overs, in reply Lucknow Supergiants were bundled out for 101 runs in 16.3 overs.

Electing to bat first after winning the toss, the opening pair of Ishan Kishan and captain Rohit Sharma added 30 runs in 3.2 overs for Mumbai Indians. The team got the first blow in the form of Rohit and he became the victim of Naveen-ul-Haq after scoring 11 runs in 10 balls. Kishan also went on to score 15 runs and Mumbai Indians suffered a second blow in the fifth over. From here Cameron Green and Suryakumar Yadav took an aggressive approach and added 66 runs in 38 balls to take the team’s score past 100. Stoinis was unlucky and was run out in an innings of 40 runs in 27 balls. Krishnappa Gautam was also run out on a personal score of 2. Deepak Hooda was also run out and 15 runs came from his bat. From here the team was reduced to cheap and got a big defeat. Fast bowler Akash Madhwal took five wickets for Mumbai Indians.
