After his departure, du Plessis took the lead and was supported by Glenn Maxwell. The RCB captain brought up his half-century in 35 balls and Maxwell in 24 balls. At the same time, RCB completed 200 runs in the 19th over. In an attempt to play a big shot on the fifth ball of the last over, Maxwell lost his wicket and his innings ended on a personal score of 59. Du Plessis remained unbeaten till the end and scored 79 runs in 46 balls. His innings included five fours and five sixes. Amit Mishra and Mark Wood got one success each from Lucknow Super Giants.

In the last over, Lucknow needed 5 runs to win and the team equalized the score on the fourth ball. However, on the fifth ball, Jaydev Unadkat was dismissed on a personal score of 9. However, Bai got a single off the last ball and Lucknow got a resounding victory. For RCB, Mohammad Siraj and Wayne Parnell took three wickets each.
