KKR vs RCB: IPL 2023 Match report Kolkata Knight Riders vs Royal Challengers Bangalore

Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (KKR vs RCB) by 21 runs in the 36th match of IPL 2023 played in Bengaluru. Playing first, KKR scored 200/5 in 20 overs, in reply RCB could only score 179/8 after playing the entire over.

Electing to bat first after losing the toss, Jason Roy along with N Jagadeesan got off to a brisk start. KKR scored 66 runs without any loss in the powerplay itself. The team got the first blow in the 10th over at a score of 83 and Jagadeesan was dismissed after playing a slow inning of 27 runs in 29 balls. Roy batted with a bang and completed his half-century in 22 balls. He got out after scoring 56 runs in 29 balls with the help of four fours and five sixes. From here Venkatesh Iyer and captain Nitish Rana took the innings forward. During this, Rana looked more aggressive. KKR completed 150 runs in 16 overs.

Rana was dismissed in the 18th over after scoring 48 runs in 21 balls with the help of three fours and four sixes. During this, he also completed 100 sixes for KKR. In the same over, Iyer also became the victim of Vanindu Hasaranga on a personal score of 31. Andre Russell could not do anything special and went on to score just 1 run. Chasing the target, Faf Du Plessis and Virat Kohli got RCB off to a brisk start and both added 31 runs in 2.2 overs for the first wicket. Du Plessis was dismissed for 17 runs in 7 balls with the help of one four and two sixes. Shahbaz Ahmed, sent up in batting, flopped and returned to the pavilion after scoring 2 runs. Glenn Maxwell also could not do anything special and got out after scoring only 5 runs. From here, Kohli got the support of Mahipal Lomror and both made a quick half-century partnership and took the score beyond 100. Lomror was dismissed for 113 after scoring 34 runs in 18 balls. Kohli managed to bring up his half-century and scored an innings of 54 runs in 37 balls. Dinesh Karthik 22 and Suyash Prabhudesai were dismissed after scoring 10 runs. RCB had to bear the brunt of the poor performance of the middle-order batsmen and the team lost the match. Varun Chakraborty took three wickets for Kolkata Knight Riders.
