The 53rd match of IPL (IPL 2023) was organized today at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. This vigorous match was played between the host Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings (PBKS vs KKR), in which the host team defeated Punjab by 5 wickets. In the end for KKR, Andre Russell and Rinku Singh won the team by playing stormy innings. Chasing the target of 180 runs given by Punjab, KKR won in the last over.

Chasing a challenging target given by Punjab, Kolkata opener Jason Roy contributed 38 runs in a good innings but Rahmanullah Gurbaj was dismissed cheaply for 15 runs. Captain Nitish Rana scored 51 runs in 38 balls which included 6 fours and 1 six. Venkatesh Iyer also could not show amazing and he was also dismissed for 11 runs. In the end, Andre Russell together with Rinku Singh tried to win for Kolkata, in which he succeeded. Andre Russell scored 42 off 23 balls which included 3 fours and 3 sixes. While Rinku Singh played an unbeaten inning of 21 runs in 10 balls and finished the match with a four on the last ball of the last over.

Electing to bat first after winning the toss in this PBKS vs KKR match, Punjab openers tried to get off to a brisk start. But young batsman Prabhsimran Singh fell to Harshit Rana on a personal score of 12 and Bhanuka Rajapaksa was dismissed for zero soon after. Captain Shikhar Dhawan stood firm at one end but wickets continued to fall from the other end. Liam Livingstone scored 15 runs and Jitesh Sharma was also dismissed for 21 runs. Shikhar Dhawan scored 57 runs while playing the captaincy innings which included 9 fours and 1 six.

Shahrukh Khan and Harpreet Brar took the team to a respectable score in the last over for Punjab. Shahrukh Khan hit 1 six and 2 fours in the last over and scored 21 runs in 8 balls. Apart from this, Harpreet Brar also scored 17 runs in 9 balls. For Kolkata, Varun Chakravarthy took maximum 3 wickets in his name.
