Tamim Iqbal took his retirement back, changed his decision after being scolded by the Prime Minister

Tamim Iqbal, the veteran batsman and captain of Bangladesh Cricket Team, took a big decision to retire from international cricket yesterday, July 6, at a sudden press conference. But now they have reversed this decision only after 24 hours. Tamim Iqbal has announced to come out of retirement and play for Bangladesh again after meeting Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

PM Sheikh Hasina called Tamim Iqbal to meet him at the Prime Minister’s residence today and talked to him in this context. After which Tamim Iqbal decided to cancel his retirement outside PM House and said, ‘This afternoon the Prime Minister invited me to his house. They scolded me and asked me to play again, so I have decided to come out of retirement this time. It was difficult to say no to him.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board is perplexed by his decision as to why he suddenly retired three months before the World Cup. Therefore, BCB President Nazmul Hasan held an emergency meeting with the Board of Directors at City Hotel regarding this. Regarding this, he said, ‘We had to hold this meeting because of the sudden retirement of Tamim Iqbal. I didn’t expect it at all because we used to have frequent conversations. He was the captain of the team, so we had spoken to him three days back as well. Even today I had talked to him and I had no idea that he would take such a decision. He had said that he will play till the next Champions Trophy.

Najmul Hasan further told that, ‘After this there was talk with Jalal Bhai (BCB Cricket Operations Chairman) about his captaincy in the World Cup. The World Cup is round the corner and that is why there was no talk of captaincy change. The sudden retirement of such a player is unfortunate. I am constantly trying to contact him. It is not right for any captain to retire in the middle of the tournament. If he wants, we want to give him a wonderful farewell.
