Asia Cup started in the year 1984 and first this tournament was played in UAE. In all, there have been 15 editions of the Asia Cup so far, out of which India has won the title for the maximum number of times, 7 (1984, 1988, 1990-91, 1995, 2010, 2016 and 2018).
Sri Lanka’s team has become the Asian champion for 6 times (1986, 1997, 2004, 2008, 2014 and 2022). Pakistan has won the Asia Cup title only twice (2000 and 2012). Let us tell you that India did not participate in the Asia Cup held in the year 1986.
The 2023 Asia Cup will be held in Pakistan and Sri Lanka from 30 August to 17 September. The tournament will start in Pakistan, while the final will be played in Sri Lanka.
Note: The Asia Cup held in the year 2016 and 2022 was played in T20 format.

1984 Asia Cup, UAE: India won both their matches and won the tournament. Sri Lanka finished third after winning one match and Pakistan losing both matches.
1986 Asia Cup, Sri Lanka: Sri Lanka won the tournament, defeating Pakistan by 5 wickets in the final. India did not participate in the 1986 Asia Cup.
1988 Asia Cup, Bangladesh: India won the title by defeating Sri Lanka by 6 wickets in the final.
1990 Asia Cup, India: India beat Sri Lanka by 7 wickets in the final. Pakistan did not participate in this tournament.
1995 Asia Cup, UAE: India won the Asia Cup title for the third time in a row, defeating Sri Lanka by 8 wickets in the final.
1997 Asia Cup, Sri Lanka: Sri Lanka won the title for the second time, defeating India by 8 wickets in the final.
2000 Asia Cup, Bangladesh: Pakistan won the Asia Cup title for the first time, defeating Sri Lanka by 39 runs in the final.
2004 Asia Cup, Sri Lanka: Sri Lanka won the title by defeating India by 25 runs in the final.
2008 Asia Cup, Pakistan: Sri Lanka won the tournament, defeating India by 100 runs in the final.
2010 Asia Cup, Sri Lanka: India won the tournament, defeating Sri Lanka by 81 runs in the final.
2012 Asia Cup, Bangladesh: Pakistan won the tournament, defeating Bangladesh by 2 runs in the final. The Indian team did not succeed in making it to the finals.
2014 Asia Cup, Bangladesh: Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by 5 wickets in the final to win the title.
2016 Asia Cup, Bangladesh (T20 format): India won the Asia Cup, defeating Bangladesh by 8 wickets in the final.
2018 Asia Cup, UAE: India beat Bangladesh by 3 wickets on the last ball in the final to win the title.
2022 Asia Cup, UAE: Sri Lanka beat Pakistan in the final to win the title. The Indian team could not reach the finals.
