IPL 2023: Gujarat Titans defeated Punjab Kings by 6 wickets

In the 18th match of IPL 2023 played in Mohali, Gujarat Titans defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS vs GT) by 6 wickets. Batting first, Punjab Kings scored 153/8 in 20 overs, in reply Gujarat Titans scored 154/4 in 19.5 overs. This is Gujarat’s third win in the current season, while it is Punjab’s second defeat.

It seemed that Punjab might not even be able to reach the score of 150 but Shah Rukh Khan took the team to a good score by scoring 22 runs in 9 balls with the help of two sixes and a four. Harpreet Brar also remained unbeaten after scoring 8 runs. Mohit Sharma, playing debut match for Gujarat Titans, took maximum two wickets.

Chasing the target, Wriddhiman Saha along with Shubman Gill got Gujarat Titans off to a brisk start and the duo added 48 runs in 4.4 overs. Saha was dismissed by Kagiso Rabada on a personal score of 30 and completed the fastest 100 wickets in IPL. Sai Sudarshan scored 19 runs and was dismissed by Arshdeep Singh. Captain Hardik Pandya was dismissed for 106 in the 15th over after scoring 8 runs. Gill was frozen at one end and completed his half-century in 40 balls. In an attempt to play a big shot on the second ball of the last over, Gill lost his wicket and was dismissed after scoring 67 runs. Four runs were needed off the last two balls and Rahul Tewatia (5*) hit a four off the fifth ball to win the match for his team. David Miller also scored 17 not out.
