Naveen-ul-Haq banned for several months in major T20 league

Afghanistan’s star fast bowler Naveen-Ul-Haq came into discussion in IPL 2023. The reason he came into limelight in this league was the spat between him and Virat Kohli. Now once again this player is in the news. Actually, International League T20 (ILT20) has banned Naveen-ul-Haq for 20 months. Now he will not be seen playing in this league for 20 months.

This fine has been imposed on Naveen-ul-Haq after violating his contract with his team Sharjah Warriors. Sharjah Warriors had included Naveen-ul-Haq for this season. Naveen was offered another year’s extension by his team but he refused to sign the retention notice for the season. Naveen was given a retention notice by his team as per the player contract terms. Following this, Sharjah Warriors approached ILT T20 to intervene in the dispute.

Although ILT tried to contact Naveen, it also failed. The ILT20’s three-member disciplinary committee comprises league chief executive David White, security and anti-corruption chief Colonel Azam and Emirates Cricket Board member Zayed Abbas. Both sides heard Naveen and Sharjah Warriors separately and examined the evidence before them and decided to impose a 20-month ban on Naveen.

Let us tell you that Naveen-ul-Haq was also seen in action in the World Cup 2023. He had performed amazingly for his team. Apart from this, Naveen had surprised everyone at that time when he decided to retire from the ODI format just before the World Cup. Now Naveen is seen playing only in T20 format for Afghanistan.
