AUS vs PAK: ICC took major action against Pakistan

In the first match of the three-match Test series between Australia and Pakistan (AUS vs PAK), the Pakistani team had to face a crushing defeat. Australia defeated Pakistan by 360 runs in the first match. This defeat shook the entire Pakistani team. Now after this defeat, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has given two more big shocks to the Pakistan team. This shock from ICC has further increased Pakistan’s troubles.

After losing by a huge margin of 360 runs in the first Test against Australia, Pakistan team has moved to second place in the World Test Championship points table. Now ICC has imposed a fine of 10 percent of the match fees of the entire team players on Pakistan team for slow over rate. This crackdown by ICC did not stop at the fine. After this, ICC has also deducted 2 points from Pakistan in the points table of WTC 2025.

This action of ICC after AUS vs PAK match has dealt a huge blow to the Pakistani team. Pakistan team had to lose the WTC points table by 2 points after losing the first match against Australia. Now after ICC deducted two points from the team, Pakistan is left with 61.11 points in the points table.

ICC has taken this action against Pakistan under Article 2.22 of the Code of Conduct. According to this, if a team is not able to complete an over in the stipulated time, then all the players of that team are fined 5 percent of the match fee per over. In such a situation, Pakistan was two overs late from the scheduled time. Therefore, all the players were fined 10 percent of the match fee. Apart from this, according to Article 16.11.2 of the ICC World Test Championship, one point will be deducted from the points table for every late over. Therefore, due to two late overs, two points were deducted from Pakistan team.
