The one-off Test match (IND-W vs ENG-W) between the women’s teams of India and England started from today at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, on the first day of which a brilliant performance was seen from the Indian batsmen. By the end of the game, the Indian team scored 410/7 in 94 overs. In this match, Jemimah Rodrigues, Renuka Singh and Shubha Satish made their Test debut for India.

The Indian team won the toss and decided to bat first but the start was not very good and the first blow came at the score of 25. Opener Smriti Mandhana became the victim of Lauren Bell in the sixth over after scoring 17 runs in 12 balls. The second opener Shafali Verma also got out at the score of 47 after scoring 19 runs. From here Shubha Satish and Jemimah Rodrigues took over the innings and played an excellent partnership and did not allow India to suffer any setback. During this, Shubha completed her first international half-century. Till lunch, the team scored 136/2 in 27 overs.

After lunch, the pair completed a century partnership as the Indian team completed 150 runs in 30 overs. Jemimah Rodrigues also managed to complete her half-century. Sophie Eccleston gave England the third breakthrough and Shubha Satish was out after scoring 69 runs in 76 balls. Jemima also returned to the pavilion after scoring 68 runs. From here captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Yastika Bhatia took charge and took the score beyond 250. By tea time, India scored 261/4 in 56 overs.

After tea, Harmanpreet Kaur and Yastika Bhatia continued the partnership and added 116 runs to take the score past 300. Yastika completed her half-century in 66 balls but Harmanpreet could not complete her half-century and was run out on a personal score of 49. Yastika scored 66 runs in 88 balls and was out as the sixth wicket in the 67th over with the score at 313.

From here Indian batsmen Deepti Sharma and Sneh Rana troubled the English bowlers and took the score beyond 400. Rana returned to the pavilion after scoring 30 runs. Till the end of the game, Deepti remained unbeaten on 60 runs and Pooja Vastrakar remained unbeaten on 4 runs. Lauren Bell took maximum two wickets for England.
