SL vs PAK: Pakistan team out of Asia Cup 2023, Sri Lanka won a thrilling match on the last ball

An exciting match of Super 4 of Asia Cup was played between Sri Lanka and Pakistan (SL vs PAK) today at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. By winning this match on the last ball, Sri Lanka has secured its place in the final of the Asia Cup. Batting first, Pakistan scored 252/7 in 42 overs and under Duckworth Lewis, Sri Lanka got the target of 252 runs, which Sri Lanka achieved on the last ball of the match. The hero of Sri Lanka’s victory in the end was Charith Asalanka, who played an unbeaten and match-winning inning of 49 runs.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss and decided to bat first. Due to rain, initially this match was decided for 45 overs. Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman’s poor form continued and he was out for 4 runs. For the second wicket, Babar Azam along with Abdullah Shafiq made an important partnership of 64 runs. Babar Azam returned to the pavilion after scoring 29 runs and Pakistan’s score at one time became 130/5. But due to rain again, the match was reduced to 42 overs. Due to Duckworth Lewis, Sri Lanka got the target of only 252 runs, chasing which Sri Lanka made a strong start. Kusal Perera scored 17 runs in 8 balls but he returned to the pavilion due to a direct hit by Shadab Khan. There was a partnership of 57 runs between Pathum Nishanka and Kusal Mendis but the important partnership of Kusal Mendis and Sadira Samarawickrama brought the hosts into the match. Both added 100 runs for the third wicket in which Sadira scored 48 runs in this SL vs PAK match.

At the other end, Kusal Mendis also lost his wicket at the score of 91 runs. In the end, Charith Asalanka played an excellent unbeaten inning of 49 runs to take Sri Lanka to the final.
