WCPL 2023: Important change in the tournament, Big decision taken regarding number of matches

A major decision has been taken ahead of the second season of the Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL), which started last year. The second season of the tournament, which took place this year, saw more matches than the previous year. In the inaugural season of the league, only four matches including the final were held but this time a total of seven matches will be played. The league will begin on August 30 and the final will be held on September 10 in Trinidad and Tobago.

Last season, all the three teams involved in the tournament played one group match each and Trinbago Knight Riders defeated Barbados Royals by 10 runs in the final to lift the trophy. This time there will be a double round robin format in the group stage, that is, each team will play two matches and the top two teams will get a place in the final.

The WCPL schedule is something that will not clash with The Hundred, which is scheduled to be held from August 1 to 27.
