In the 47th match (KKR vs SRH) of IPL 2023 played in Hyderabad, Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 5 runs in a thrilling match. Batting first, KKR scored 171/9 in 20 overs, in reply SRH could only manage 166/8 after playing the entire over. Varun Chakravarthy bowled the last over brilliantly for KKR and won his team.

Electing to bat after winning the toss, KKR got off to a bad start. Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who played a blistering inning in the last match, got out as soon as he faced the first ball. Venkatesh Iyer also went on to score 7 runs. Jason Roy was dismissed as the third wicket on 35 after scoring 20 runs in 19 balls. Captain Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh batted well from here and added 61 runs for the fourth wicket to take the score to 96.

Rana got out after scoring 46 runs in 31 balls with the help of three fours and three sixes. Andre Russell contributed 24 runs in 15 balls. Sunil Narine 1 and Shardul Thakur could only score 8 runs. Rinku was dismissed as the eighth wicket and played an inning of 46 runs in 35 balls. Anukul Roy, who came in as an impact player, remained unbeaten after scoring 13 runs in 7 balls. Marco Jansen and T Natarajan took two wickets each for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Chasing the target in this KKR vs SRH match, Sunrisers Hyderabad got the first blow at the score of 29. Mayank Agarwal was dismissed by Harshit Rana after scoring 18 runs in 11 balls. Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for 37 after scoring 9 runs. Rahul Tripathi played a quick inning of 20 runs in 9 balls with the help of three fours and a six. Harry Brook flopped and was not even allowed to open the account by Anukul Roy.
From here, Heinrich Klaasen, along with captain Aiden Markram, added 70 runs in 47 balls for the fifth wicket and took the score to 120. Klaasen was dismissed for 36 runs in 20 balls with the help of one four and three sixes. Markram played a slow innings of 41 off 40 balls. Abdul Samad took the matter to the last over. The team had to score 9 runs in the last over and Abdul Samad was dismissed on the third ball on a personal score of 18. 6 runs were needed off the last ball and Varun Chakraborty gave his team the victory by putting a dot ball. Vaibhav Arora and Shardul Thakur took two wickets each for Kolkata Knight Riders.
