On the final day of the second unofficial Test played in East London between 28 November and 1 December, South Africa A defeated West Indies A (SA-A vs WI-A) by a huge margin of 232 runs and won the 3-match unofficial test series 1- Equaled 1. Chasing the target of 442 given by South Africa, the entire West Indies team was all out after scoring 209 runs. Left-arm spinner Dan Peet played an important role in South Africa’s victory and took a total of 11 wickets in both the innings.

West Indies won the toss and gave South Africa the chance to bat first. The Proteas team collapsed after scoring 298 runs in 97.2 overs. Keegan Peterson played the highest innings of 67 runs for the team. Renard Van Tonder also scored 50 runs. Apart from this, Tony De Zorzi contributed 44 runs and Ruan De Swardt contributed 42 runs. However, all these batsmen could not play big innings after being set and due to this the team could not cross the score of 300. Akeem Jordan and Shamar Joseph took three wickets each for West Indies.

In reply, West Indies’ first innings ended at a score of just 154 in 47.2 overs. Zachary McCaskey top scored with 62 runs and Kevin Hodge was the second best scorer with 25 runs. For South Africa, Dan Peet took five wickets and Tshepo Moreki took three wickets. South Africa got a lead of 144 runs on the basis of its first innings.

In the second innings, South Africa batted strongly and declared its innings at the score of 297/4 in 71.3 overs. Keegan Peterson, who scored the most runs in the first innings, scored a century and played an innings of 112 runs. Apart from this, Renard Van Tonder also contributed 56 runs. In this way, South Africa, combining the lead of 144 runs in the first innings and the score of the second innings, gave West Indies a target of 442 to win.

While chasing the target, once again West Indies’ batting flopped and the entire team was all out on the score of 209 in the 60th over. Zachary McCaskey (50) was the only batsman to score a half-century. Dan Peet once again bowled lethally for South Africa and took six wickets.
The third and decisive match of this series will be played in Bloemfontein from 5 to 8 December. Whichever team wins, the series will also be in its name.
