Two former RCB players won the match together, Moeen Ali flopped badly

In the 22nd match of The Hundred Men’s Competition 2023, Southern Braves defeated Birmingham Phoenix by 4 wickets. Batting first, the team of Birmingham Phoenix could manage only 119 runs losing eight wickets in 100 balls. Southern Brave achieved this target by losing six wickets in 95 balls. Tymal Mills was adjudged Player of the Match for his excellent bowling.

Put to bat first, Birmingham Phoenix got off to a good start. The opening pair of Will Smead and Ben Duckett put on 40 runs off 23 balls for the first wicket. Will Smeed scored 23 runs off 14 balls with the help of 5 fours. Ben Duckett also played an innings of 27 runs off 17 balls. Liam Livingstone also played an innings of 25 runs off 23 balls but the rest of the batsmen flopped. Captain Moeen Ali could score only one run. 5 wickets fell till 73 runs and due to this the team came under a lot of pressure and could score only 119 runs. Tymal Mills took 3 wickets for just 20 runs from Southern Braves and Rehan Ahmed also took 3 wickets for 22 runs.

Southern Brave achieved the target easily

Finn Allen scored 22 off 14 balls and Devon Conway scored 24 runs for Southern Braves to chase the target. Captain James Vince also scored 18 runs in the middle order and in the end, George Garten’s innings of 28 runs off 18 balls gave the team the victory. Tanvir Sangha took two wickets for 23 runs for Birmingham Phoenix but he did not get the support of the rest of the bowlers and that is why his team could not defend this target.
