India created history by defeating South Africa within 2 days

An exciting match was witnessed on the second day of the second test match played between South Africa and India (SA vs IND). After the fall of 23 wickets on the first day, India bowled brilliantly on the second day as well and restricted the host team to 176 runs. Team India achieved the easy target of 79 runs with 7 wickets in 12 overs. Jasprit Bumrah broke the back of the host team’s batting by taking 6 wickets on the second day but Aiden Markram won everyone’s hearts by scoring a tremendous century. This test is the shortest test in cricket history (642 balls).

Day 2, Session 1

At the end of the first day’s play, the Proteas team’s score was 62/3. David Bedingham came on the field with Aiden Markram but after adding only 4 more runs, Bedingham handed his wicket to Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah’s dangerous bowling did not stop here. He sent Kyle Verne to the pavilion for 9 runs, Marco Jansen for 11 runs and Keshav Maharaj for 3 runs and completed his 5 wickets in this innings. The host team had lost 7 wickets for 111 runs and had achieved a lead of only 13 runs but from here Aiden Markram started playing quick shots.

Markram played a tremendous century of 106 runs in 103 balls, which included 17 fours and 2 sixes. Markram along with Kagiso Rabada added 51 runs and Mohammed Siraj took the important wicket of centurion Markram. After Markram was out, Prasidh Krishna sent Rabada to the pavilion. Lungi Ngidi and Nandre Berger added 14 runs for the last wicket. For India, Bumrah took 6 wickets, Mukesh Kumar 2 and Mohammad Siraj and Prasidh Krishna took 1 wicket each.

Second day, second session

In the second session of the day, Indian team’s openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma came out to chase the small target of 79 runs. Jaiswal expressed his attitude from the very first ball. Jaiswal played a brilliant inning of 28 runs in 23 balls and gave a fast start to the Indian team. There was a partnership of 44 runs between Rohit and Yashasvi. After this, Shubman Gill returned to the pavilion after scoring 10 runs and Virat Kohli returned to the pavilion after scoring 12 runs. Shreyas Iyer along with Rohit Sharma ended the match. Rohit Sharma remained unbeaten on 17 runs and Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten on 4 runs. For South Africa, Kagiso Rabada, Marco Jansen and Andre Berger got 1 wicket each.

Let us tell you that after 13 years, Team India has drawn a Test series against South Africa on their own soil, while for the first time it has won a Test match at the Newlands Stadium in Cape Town.
